Diet Chart for Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism occurs when the body begins to produce thyroid hormone in excessive amounts. This condition is also known as thyrotoxicosis. Hyperthyroidism may lead to sudden weight loss, protruded eyes, muscle weakness and sweating.

Causes

As per Ayurveda, hyperthyroidism occurs due to increase in Pitta dosha in the body. Increased Pitta dosha further increases the digestive fire and imbalances the body metabolism.

Diet for Hyperthyroidism

A low-fat, low-iodine and high protein diet will help you in regulating the thyroid hormone. But it is also advised to maintain the proportion of iodine intake as excess amounts of iodine in the diet may also lead to hyperthyroidism and can make the condition worse. Follow the given dietary guidelines along with consumption of herbal remedies to recover from hyperthyroidism.
