Home Remedies for Hairfall

With the continuous increase in daily stress levels, degrading food quality, harmful lifestyle habits like smoking, coupled with genetic disorders, the age at which people have started experiencing hairfall has fallen drastically.

In scientific terms, hairfall is also known as alopecia or baldness. It means loss of hair from the head or body. Ideally, hair loss represents more loss of hair from the head than any other part of the body, since the loss of hair from the head is a more visible concern. The extent of hair loss varies from a small patch to the entire body. Sometimes, family history and genetics are also responsible for hair loss. Hair loss occurs due to hormonal imbalance or as a side-effect of some medications.

To deal with any problem, we first need to know its cause of origin.

First let us see what exactly are the causes for hair loss.

Causes of Hairfall

Stress:

The emotional well-being of a person is very essential for the proper functioning of the human body. Stress is when this emotional quotient gets disturbed. That is why it is one of the major reasons for hairfall. However, the hairfall due to stress is temporary. It stays as longs as the stress stays and affects the body. Hence, stress should be avoided.

Pregnancy:

It is one of the toughest phases.  During pregnancy, there are a lot of hormones that are released, while for some women it hardly affects them. Since everybody responds to the production of hormones differently, hence some women experience thinning of the hair – ranging from a few to quite a lot; during pregnancy. This condition is called telogen effluvium, and it affects a small number of women during pregnancy. In the first trimester, the body is stressed due to the hormonal balance to accommodate the child growing in the womb.

Menopause:

According to medical research and studies, during menopause, there is a lot of hormonal imbalance, with the lesser secretion of estrogen and progesterone. This results in hairfall during menopause.

Hormonal Imbalance:

Any hormonal imbalance, irrespective of gender can cause hair loss. Stress causes hormonal imbalance which further results in hair loss.

Scalp infection like ringworm:

tinea capitis is a fungal infection of the scalp, that goes deep into the hair shafts and causes itching of the scalp which results in hair loss. Whether the hair breaks off at the scalp’s surface or just above depends on the type of fungus that is causing the scalp infection.

Genetic history

Hereditary-pattern baldness is not a disease. It is a natural condition of hair loss due to the genetic history in a family. It is inevitable with hormones and aging.

Extensive Hairstyling

With the modern hair styling tools like Flat irons, curling tongs, and blow dryers, might make the hair look better but there are responsible for causing permanent damage to the hair, leading to hair loss. The heat from these devices burns the keratin in the hair and weakens the hair follicles as well leading to hair loss.

Poor Diet

A poor diet is a natural cause of hairfall. Food that is deficient in iron, protein, and vitamin B leads to hairfall. Without the nutrients, the hair loses its nourishment and weakens and falls off. Hence, a nutritious diet is the key to stronger hair roots.

Symptoms of Hairfall:

Less hair at a certain age means hair loss. However, there are some signs and symptoms related wit is as

  • A Burning or stinging sensation before sudden hair loss
  • Intense itching, burning, and tenderness due to infection at the area of hair loss.
  • Scaly bald patches, accompanied with sores or blisters means a fungal infection on your scalp.
  • Redness, swelling, and sores that may lead to irritation of the scalp
