Ayurveda Treatment for Skin Whitening

Many people are unhappy about their skin’s complexion. This is a sad fact. People with light skin can tan their skin occasionally to improve their complexion. However, those with darker skin tones have no easy way to make their skin lighter. You may prefer a lighter complexion if you have a darker skin tone.

Many products claim to whiten your skin. These products can lighten your skin with chemicals. These chemicals can cause skin irritation. These products can cause permanent skin damage if used long-term. You need to find a safe and natural product if you want to lighten your complexion.

Ayurveda uses herbs for improving skin complexion. These herbs are used to create radiant skin. The herbs can soothe and make the skin glow. The skin’s tone will lighten. The changed complexion can result in skin whitening. According to Ayurveda, reduction in skin glow can be caused by toxins and impurities in the body. To brighten your skin, you must first cleanse your blood.

Ayurveda offers products made from herbs that are safer to use. These products are made from natural substances that whiten the skin.  These products have been around for hundreds of years and have shown many benefits. These formulations were prepared by ancient Indian sages and documented in ancient texts.

Blood purifiers, also known as blood cleansers, can be used to remove toxic substances from the blood. This can be used to treat skin problems. These skin conditions can affect skin tone. Kantivardhaka herbs can be used to improve your complexion. Cooling herbs are used in Ayurvedic medicine to improve the complexion. These herbs are mildly astringent in taste. These herbs can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions.

There are certain herbs that are used to penetrate deep into the Dhatus or tissues of the body. These will reduces inflammation. This helps soothe the skin and improves skin health.   • Yoga and exercise can improve blood circulation.
  • Sleep is essential for skin health and is vital.

Varnya herbs, also known as Radiance Enhancing Herbs in Ayurveda are natural ingredients that brighten the skin. These herbs balance Pitta dosha, which is responsible to the appearance of color in the upper layer of our skin (known in Ayurveda as Avabhasini). These herbs are rich in phytochemicals that influence skin functions and provide nutrients for healthy skin.

This category also includes herbs that are mostly Madhura, Tikt and Kashaya Rasa (sweetener, bitter, astringent taste) or Shita Virya (“Cooling potency”), which makes them suitable for use in pitta dosha balancing. They act by detoxifying and cleansing the blood.

  • Madhuyashthi

It’s also known by the names Madhuka and Licorice. Regular consumption of Licorice can help to reduce dark spots and blemishes. The skin can be protected by consuming Licorice tea. To protect your skin from sunburns, a Licorice root decoration may be used as a sunscreen lotion. To treat sunburns, you can apply a pack made from crushed cucumber and fresh turmeric in Licorice Tea.

  • Manjistha

Manjistha, an ancient herb, is known to be a blood purifier, Varnya herb, and a Rasayan (rejuvenator). It is widely used in skin care since centuries.

  • Padmaka

To improve your complexion, you can use the powder from the plant Padmaka. The skin-enhancing properties of Padmaka’s extract include six elements including copper, zinc, iron, and zinc. It helps to prevent acne by retaining moisture.

  • Nagkesar

Tung or Nagkesar is well-known for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties in Ayurveda. Regular application will give you soft, glowing skin. This oil is made from the stamens of flowers and has excellent antibacterial properties, making it a favourite for skincare routines.

  • Vetiver

Also known as Usheer, or Khus, is a well-known skin enhancer. The oil of Khus is extremely nourishing and can replenish dry skin. One of the most important benefits of this plant is its ability reduce skin blemishes and pigmentation, which helps to achieve a more even skin tone.

  • Sariva (Hemidesmus indica)

Commonly known as Anantamula or Salsa, it is used as a blood purifier and for various skin ailments. It promotes health and energy and cures diseases caused by vitiated blood.

  • Haridra (Curcuma longa)

The rhizomes of this herb exhibit property such as photo protection, anti-wrinkle, astringent, anti-irritant, anti-ageing, antioxidant, moisturizing effects which are all good for the skin. It is commonly known as turmeric.

Here are some Ayurvedic Skin Care Home Remedies:

  • Apply turmeric paste to your skin
  • Apply a honey and saffron mask to your skin
  • Rose water can be used to tone your skin
  • Sandalwood powder can be used on your skin
  • Use a lemon sugar scrub to gently exfoliate.
  • Aloe Vera Gel can be used to massage your skin
  • Apply milk to your skin

  • Apply turmeric paste to your skin

How to Make the paste: take 4 tablespoon of gram flour and add one teaspoon turmeric powder also add enough milk or water to make a smooth paste.

How And When To Apply: Apply the paste on your face and neck and leave it on for 10 to 15 mins. Then, rinse off with plain water. Repeat this paste once or twice in a week.

How This Works: Turmeric active alkaloid curcumin has very strong antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. So, it removes the harmful free radicals that damage the skin. Turmeric also makes the skin supple and glowing by enhancing collagen production. Gram flour makes the skin bright and clean by gently cleansing it.

  • Apply a honey and saffron mask to your skin

How to make the mask: Take one tablespoon of honey and soak a few strands in that leave it for a couple of minutes.

Application: Apply the saffron-infused honey on the full face and neck area and wash it off after 10-12 minutes. Repeat this mask three to four times a week.

Quality: Saffron is ancient times remedy for getting a naturally glowing and clear skin. The antioxidants present in this helps in keeping the skin healthy and protects it from sun burn.

  • Rose Water:

Application: Soak a cotton ball in rose water and apply it all on the face and neck. Repeat this twice a day every morning and evening. Alternatively, keep your bottle of rose water in the refrigerator.

Quality: Rosewater is basically used as toner as it refreshes and cleanses the skin. By enhancing the blood circulation, it also brightens the skin tone and balances the skin ph.

  • Use of sandalwood Powder:

How to make the paste: take 2 tsf of sandalwood powder in a bowl and mix rose water to make a smooth paste.

Application: Apply the paste on face and neck area and rinse it after 10 to 15 mins. Repeat this twice in a week.

Qualities: The antiseptic property in sandalwood prevents acne, pimples, and sores from developing. This is known as the oldest blood purifiers, it also helps in reducing dark spots and pigmentation.

  • Lemon Scrub:

Formulation: Make the scrub by adding two teaspoons lemon juice to two teaspoons sugar. Mix them together in a bowl. To make the scrub, add a few drops honey.

Application: Rub the mixture onto the face, rub it in circular motions, and then let it sit for 10 minutes. Use lukewarm water to wash it off. This is how you scrub it twice per week.

Qualities: Lemons help to remove tan and cleanse the skin. Sugar granules can be used as a scrub to remove dead skin. Lemon is one of the amazing natural skin brightener. 

  • Aloe Vera :

Formation: Combine one tablespoon of aloe gel from the aloe plant with one teaspoon honey and a pinch of turmeric in a bowl. It can also be made with teaspoon milk

Application: Spread the mixture on the neck and face. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Use lukewarm water to wash it off and dry it. This should be done once or twice per week.

Qualities: Aloe Vera is the ultimate treatment for skin problems. Aloe Vera gives skin a natural glow by nourishing, healing and rejuvenating it.

  • Milk apply: 

Milk contains lactic acid, which has mild bleaching properties that can reveal a brighter complexion.

Formation: Make a paste by adding two teaspoons of milk, 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon besan to a bowl. Or alternatively you can also add saffron into milk and let it sit overnight before using the milk on your skin.

Application: Spread the paste on the neck and face. Leave it for 20 minutes until it dries. Rinse the paste off with warm water. For best results, repeat this process twice per week.

Qualities: This is an age-old remedy for soft and healthy skin. Many people believe that Cleopatra used honey and milk in her beauty regimen. Raw milk is high in skin-friendly ingredients like saturated fat, protein and vitamin C.
